Narrabri golfer Josh Wilson has stepped up his game in the last few months and has had a sensational start to the 2019 season.

Wilson, who plans for 2019 to be his last in year in Narrabri, took his great form and confidence into last weekend and converted that into two significant victories.

On Saturday at the Narrabri Golf Club he hit an even par 71 to win the February monthly medal.

That was his third win this season from as many monthly medal events, and he said that a new goal for the year was to win them all.

Wilson then travelled to Bingara on Sunday where he played 18 holes at the town’s local course, setting the course record by two shots with a score of one over, scoring 67 off the stick on the par 66 course.

Wilson told The Courier that his game has improved significantly over the past few months.

He is training seven days a week, putting in about 20-28 hours of practice which he works around a full time job.

He is currently the lowest handicapper at the Narrabri Golf Club, playing off two while 1.6 is his exact handicap.

“Hopefully I’ll have a good round this weekend and I’ll be off one,” Wilson said.

“My goal is to get to zero [by the end of the year], and I’d love to get to plus two.”
