Reconciliation Week has been celebrated around the district.

National Reconciliation Week occurs annually and runs from May 27 to June 3.

The dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

At the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The week aims to reflect on and improve the relationship between Australians, while celebrating a shared history.

This year’s theme is ‘Grounded in Truth Walk Together with Courage’.
