The Narrabri Shire Council is urging people to vote for five exciting projects that are in the running to receive a revamp and financial boost from the NSW Government.

“My Community Project is a wonderful initiative by the NSW Government,” said Mayor Cathy Redding.

The My Community Project will pour money into each NSW electorate with the aim of ‘improving the wellbeing of the people and communities that live there’.

“We are fortunate enough to have five community groups in our Shire that have applied for funding to complete various community projects,” said Cr Redding.

The nominated projects in the Narrabri Shire include a proposal to revitalise the Yarrie Lake Hall with new tennis and cricket facilities.

It’s hoped the plan will increase social interaction in the bush and create both physical and mental health benefits for the community.

Wee Waa Public School is hoping to get votes for its vegetable garden and industrial kitchen project proposal.

The project would see students growing their own vegetables as well as learning how to prepare and cook healthy meals.

The Gwabegar Little Athletics team, the Gwabegar Yowies, has put in an application for its ‘tired’ field and facilities to get a financial injection that would include a new shed, fencing and lights.

The makeover would enable the Yowies to train safely in the evening and keep fit.

Another nominated project includes The Narrabri Amateur Fishing Club’s push for ‘equal access for everyone’ to their hall specifically those with a disability.
