The historic St Francis Xavier’s Presbytery is almost gone.
Contractors moved onto the site this week and demolition of the 108 year old two story building quickly got underway.
Despite exhaustive investigations, the old building was not fit for restoration and the decision was made to take it down.
However, much of the original fittings and furniture will live on after several sales saw items go to new owners.
McInnes Demolitions, Gunnedah, is undertaking the work and Graham McInnes said the job should be basically completed in a few more days.
McInnes’ last job on the site was the demolition of the Catholic Hall several years ago.
