Western Imperial Razorbacks fast bowler Dylan Smith impressed at the Plan B Regional Bash T20 tournament for representative side Northern Inland Bolters at the weekend.

Smith was one of four Narrabri District Cricket Association players to line up for the Bolters on the weekend, teaming up with Civeo Cricket Club trio Lachlan Cameron, Nick Smart and Chris Sargent.

The Northern Inland Bolters played in the Sixers Conference – Tamworth Pool which included Coffs Coast Chargers, Macquarie Coast Stingers and Northern Rivers Rock.

The Northern Inland Cricket Council side played three matches across the two-day event and finished with one win and two losses.

The Bolters took on the Coffs Coast Chargers in game one on Saturday afternoon and lost by 27 runs, scoring 9-157 in reply to the Coffs Coast’s 6-180.

On Sunday morning the Bolters kept their hopes of finishing first in their pool and qualifying for the SCG finals series alive with a 45-run win against Macquarie Coast Stingers.

However, in round three the Bolters were defeated by 36 runs by Northern Rivers Rock.

The Coffs Coast Chargers won the Sixers Conference – Tamworth Pool after an undefeated campaign where they won all three of their games.

Northern rivers Rock placed second with two wins and a loss, followed by the Bolters (third) and the winless Stingers (fourth).

The 16-year-old Wee Waa prodigy Smith was one of the standouts for the Bolters at the tournament, finishing with a team-best eight wickets, four more than the next highest wicket taker in the

team. Only Connor Ziebell took more wickets than Smith throughout the weekend in Tamworth, the Northern Rivers Rock man finishing with nine wickets.

Smith bowled 10 overs in total during the three games and finished with eight scalps while conceding 75 runs at an average of 9.4.

In game one against the Chargers he took 2-17 from two overs, before taking 3-30 from four overs in the game two win against the Stingers.

In the third and final match Smith produced his best bowling figures of 3-28 from four overs against Northern Rivers Rock.

The three other NDCA players who competed at the tournament all made a mark throughout the three matches.

In game one Smart took 1-20 from two overs and Sargent took a slips catch from the bowling of Smith in the first innings.

In the second Sargent (13) and Cameron (7) scored runs but Smart was dismissed for a duck.

In game two Cameron (25) and Smart (13*) both scored runs in their side’s win, then Smart again took 1-20 and Sargent claimed another catch.

In game three Sargent took another catch from the bowling of Smith and took a wicket himself, finishing with 1-12 from two overs.

With the bat all three failed to fire as Smart was dismissed for three runs, Cameron one run and Sargent four runs.
