“Lee is a great person, a friendly person, she’s lived here her whole life and I think she’s loved by everyone.”
That is how Craig Summers described close friend Lee Baker.
Mrs Baker is a much-loved member of the Narrabri community who is currently battling cancer.
Mr Summers is part of the committee which has organised the Live Laugh Love Lee Doin’ It For Lee fundraiser event which will be held on Saturday.
The fundraiser will kick off at 2pm at the Baan Baa pub.
The fundraiser was designed to raise funds for and help support Mrs Baker in her fight against cancer.
“All money raised before the day and on the day will go to Lee,” Mr Summers told The Courier.
“It’s going to be big, I’m not sure on numbers but the way it’s looking it’s looking like it’s going to be a big crowd.
“There’s buses coming from Gunnedah, various buses from Narrabri and buses from Boggabri.
“It’s great to see the community getting behind it.”
There will be live music throughout the afternoon with acts from Layten Smith, Sarah Leete, the Three Legged Pig Dogs, main act Viper Creek Band, and West and Public which will finish off the night.
Part of the day’s plans include a bike ride from Narrabri to Baan Baa.
More than 30 riders, who are either Lee’s family members or were in her year at school, will take off from the Narrabri RSL Club on Saturday morning.
In their Live Laugh Love Lee shirts the group will cycle the 40km journey to Baan Baa.
On Saturday morning eight riders gathered to prepare for Saturday’s ride with a 30km practice ride.
