Narrabri trio Lauren Nott, Chelsea Hancock and Daisy Robinson represented Central North at the NSW Country Championships women’s rugby sevens tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Armidale.
The side placed fourth at the tournament after going down in a third-place playoff match on day two.
Nott, who captained the Central North side at the championships, impressed in her team’s five games and was named in the tournament’s dream team which was announced at the conclusion of the 2019 event.
Central North finished day one in second spot on the Pool B ladder following two wins and a loss.
In its first game Central North defeated Western Plains 27-12, before it downed Mid North Coast 14-10 in game two.
In its third match of the day Central North met fellow undefeated Pool B side Central Coast.
It was Central Coast which won that match 22-10, a scoreline which flattered the winning side which scored a try late in the match to extend its lead to 12 points.
Qualifying second, Central North remained in the hunt for the Cup.
Finishing third or fourth in the pool relegated sides to contest the plate or bowl.
Central North met Pool A winners Hunter in its Cup semi-final.
Hunter, which won all three of its pool games on day one, won that contest 34-0 before going on to defeat Central Coast in the final to be crowned champions.
Central North met fellow semi-final losers Central West in the third-place playoff.
Central West won that match 14-10 to finish third, which saw Central North place fourth.
