The Hogan Oval lighting project has been completed and now boasts 12 brand new floodlights that have been fitted to steel light poles.
The project cost a total of $180,000 with Narrabri Shire contributing $60,000 and Narrabri Touch Inc receiving a further $25,000 in
funding through the Local Sport Grant program.
Mayor Redding said that the new lights will benefit all members of the community.
“The completion of the Hogan Oval lighting project will no doubt be a benefit to the community and sporting clubs alike,” she said.
“It is important for our sporting clubs and community members to have access to oval facilities that allow for sport and physical activities.”
The new lights are now brighter and of a higher quality than the previous lights which will give sporting teams flexibility with their training and playing schedule while reducing the risk of injury.
“The new lighting will give Narrabri Touch greater flexibility in the scheduling of games all year round,” said Narrabri Touch committee treasurer Joan O’Neill.
O’Neill has been an active member of the project since the grant submission stage.
“We hope that with the new lighting we can attract new players to our competition and that other sporting clubs will make use of the oval lighting facilities,” she said.
