Narrabri area residents have been advised to be aware of local increased rail traffic as trainloads of steel and concrete are hauled along the railway line through Narrabri and the shire to prepare for the beginning of work on the Narrabri to North Star section of the Inland Rail project.

The start of new track construction and upgrade of the existing section of line is nearing with materials for the track to be delivered progressively to worksites along the route.

“Starting today, rail and sleepers are being delivered to sites along the alignment, and the transport of the materials will continue into 2020” said Project Director Duncan Mitchell.

The materials will be used to rebuild existing track, complete level crossings and to build a new section of rail at Camurra, north of Moree.

Extra trains will be running between Narrabri and North Star during the day and night.

“We encourage road users to take extra care at level crossings, looking and listening for trains, and heeding warning signals and signs” said Mr Mitchell.

“Local road users are urged to take extra care at level crossings along the Narrabri to North Star section over the coming month.”
