The 2019 Galloping Gully Polocrosse Club carnival was held last weekend and it was a spectacular carnival filled with incredible action.
Galloping Gully Polocrosse Club president Lachlan Melbourne said the number of teams and players was really pleasing.

“We had just shy of 50 teams,” he said.

“We were super happy with the number of teams that turned up considering the season.

“It was about the same amount of numbers as he we had last year.”

It was an outstanding weekend for both the Narrabri and Galloping Gully polocrosse clubs with several first and second-place finishes as well as individual accolades awarded.

At its home ground ‘Murrumbilla’, Galloping Gully won the A-grade women, A-grade open and F-grade open competitions.

Gully also finished runners-up in the C-grade open and the sub junior A-grade in a combined side with Narrabri.

Individual awards were handed out to a plethora of Gully riders.

Lachlan Melbourne won champion male of the carnival, champion master of the carnival and his horse Hamish won horse of the carnival.

Murray Scott won the best number two in the A-grade open competition and teammate Clancy Knight won the best number one of that division along with the under-21 champion of the carnival.

Gully’s Holly Turnbull won the champion female of the carnival as well as best number three of the A-grade women’s competition.

Turnbull’s teammates Kate Buchan and Jessie Melbourne won the division’s best two and three respectively.

Charlie Melbourne won the C-grade open’s best number one and teammate Linton Grumley won the best number two.

Clare Campbell won the best number one in the women’s B-grade comp and Lauren Eather won the best number two in the women’s C-grade division.

Scott Hamilton won the F-grade opens best number two.

Fergus Hunter won the best number three in the juniors catergory and Peter Meppem won Gully’s most improved player of the carnival.

Gully’s neighbours Narrabri Polocrosse Club finished first in the D-grade open competition.

Narrabri was runners-up in the sub-junior A-grade competition in a combined side with Galloping Gully and finished in second place in the women’s C-grade competition in a side formed with Cassilis riders.

Narrabri’s D-grade open teammates Trent Mortimer and Tristan Cole won the best number one and number two respectively.
