Former Narrbri Shire mayor Conrad Bolton has been appointed chair of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, New England North West Regional Advisory Committee.

The appointment follows the retirement of long term chair, Max Cathcart.

The Regional Advisory Committee has nine members to advise and assist the service’s board and senior management team on matters relevant to the local region, including strategic direction and partnerships.

Since 2000, the Committee has played a vital role in the development of the Tamworth-based operations and includes representatives from Barraba, Armidale, Tamworth, Wee Waa, Walcha, Gunnedah and Quirindi.

“Mr Bolton brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with previous aviation and local governance experience,”Chief Executive Officer of the service Richard Jones OAM said.

“He has sat on a number of state and local government committees and has been a strong supporter of the service since its launch in Tamworth.”

Mr Jones said Mr Bolton’s appointment will provide great benefits for the community.

“I believe Conrad’s community involvement at every level will be an important connection for our organisation throughout the New England-North West.

“Conrad is so passionate about making a difference and ensuring that our service continues providing aeromedical care for those in need.”

Mr Bolton said he was honoured to have been selected for such an important community position.

“The importance of aerial emergency response provides great comfort for our regional communities, secure in the knowledge that the best medical help is not far away.

“I am looking forward to working alongside the eight other dedicated committee members to ensure the Westpac Rescue Helicopter remains ready to respond 24-7 from the Service’s Tamworth Base,” he said.
