A 23 year old male truck driver was treated for possible head injuries following an accident near Gurley yesterday morning.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked at 11.30 am to attend the accident south of Gurley on the Newell Highway.

“Initial reports were that the truck driver was trapped in the wreckage” a rescue helicopter spokesman said.

“Several emergency services attended the scene.”

“The driver stated that his tyre had blown out causing the truck to rollover, trapping him in the wreckage. The driver extricated himself.”

“The Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team met with paramedics at Moree Airport and stabilised the patient.”

“He was flown to Tamworth hospital for further treatment and observation in a stable condition.”
