The Narrabri Creek shared pathway for walkers and bicycle riders is nearly finished.

The path, now 75 percent completed, winds its way along the creek bank from its start at Cameron Park.

The project has received $788,704 in funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

Council contractors, including local tradespeople, have been building the 1.4 kilometre long and 2.5m wide pathway.

Soon walkers and riders will be able to take a break and enjoy the view from seating installed along the pathway.

The Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, John Barilaro, has contributed a further $10,000 to the project to provide the seating along its route.

Mr Barilaro stopped by the project on his recent visit to Narrabri to inspect progress and announce the additional grant.

“Narrabri Creek is one of the community’s most spectacular natural assets and locals, whether on two legs or two wheels, can now appreciate this beautiful attraction while enjoying all of the benefits of exercising in nature,” Mr Barilaro said.

Narrabri Shire Council Mayor Cathy Redding said she was pleased with the progress and workmanship and was thrilled to hear the news of additional funding.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for supporting this project through the Stronger Country Communities Fund and for delivering such a great asset for people living in Narrabri and the area.

“Footpath connectivity to important locations has been a goal of Council and many community groups for quite some time and to finally see this project almost completed is wonderful.” Ultimately the path will also run along the other side of the creek.
