The boom of the big bore pistols reverberated across the Narrabri Pistol Club range on the weekend as 47 competitors from across Australia contested the 2019 Metallic Silhouette Big Bore National Championships.
Shooters from NSW, Queensland, Victoria and West Australia took part in the three day titles.
The NSW Metallic Silhouette Big Bore team scooped the pool at the national championships with wins in every category.
Shooters from Victoria, Queensland and West Australia as well as NSW contested the national championships.
Narrabri Pistol Club range is one of only a handful of suitable ranges capable of hosting the national titles.
Visiting shooters praised the facilities at the Narrabri range and the hospitality.
They were welcomed by deputy mayor Robert Kneale who opened the weekend’s competition.
Pistol Australia president Ray Andrews, Perth, echoed shooters comments that the Narrabri facilities were among the best in Australia.
The Narrabri range is of the calibre of the Canberra range which is currently not in operation.
Narrabri will also host the NSW titles in October.
The club last year received a major grant of $90,000 which will be used to further upgrade facilities at the range. A new, larger kitchen and common area will further enhance Narrabri Pistol club’s status as a leading competition venue.
