The Narrabri Touch Inc hosted its mixed winter competition grand final night on Monday with eight teams fighting it out over four grades to be named champions.

An intense A-grade clash between Agies and Hammer Time was the showcase game with a healthy crowd watching on.

It was the Agies that would pick up the top prize in A-grade winning the contest 4-1 after a stellar performance.

In the B-grade competition it was The MOB that took an incredible 8-7 win over the Outback Shack Tigers.

The C-grade competition was locked at 2-all at one stage before the Emus ran away with a 7-2 win over The Kerrigans.

And in the D-grade competition grand final the Dingle Dangles scored a 6-4 win.

In the A-grade clash between the Agies and Hammer Time the teams started with incredible pace.

Both teams attempted to break the others’ defence with pace and sharp passes.

Agies’ Justin Knight thought he had scored early in the contest but a great try-saving tag from Hammer Time’s April Smith denied Knight from the opening try.

Hammer Time attempted to move up-field with a fast offensive set however a great defensive effort from Agies held the side inside its own half.

Agies used its intelligence in the next set of six, drawing Hammer Time out before attempting to dart through any gaps in the defensive line.

Agies almost had the opening try of the A-grade competition grand final, but a second try-saving tag by Hammer Time’s April Smith denied Agies.

But soon after Agies finally broke the deadlock as Jay Hall was able to step past two defenders before sprinting through a gap to score a fabulous solo try.

Hall’s try put Agies up 1-nil after seven minutes of dominance.

Hammer Time tapped off and secured great field position and eventually the side would level the scores.

Hamish Duncan darted through a hole in Agies’ defence to lock the game up at 1-all.

But that was the last time Hammer Time crossed the try-line.

Agies began to control the game as Hammer Time gave away too many penalties.

Agies’ David Cruickshank put the defence in two minds as he ran down the right and threw a wonderful dummy pass to score Agies’ second try of the contest.

It was then Justin Knight that scored with a huge dummy, opening a gap in Hammer Time’s defence.

Knight ran through with ease giving his side a two-try lead.

The final try and the most athletic of the bunch came from Bella Cruickshank.

Cruickshank was able to hold her wide position on the left wing, receive the ball, accelerate and dive over the try-line.

That try made the score 4-1 taking the game well out of Hammer Time’s reach.

Agies’ Justin Knight was named as player of the final after scoring one try and leading the winning side around the park.

Monday night’s B-grade decider was a high-scoring contest which went right down to the wire.

The MOB and opponents Outback Shack Tigers pushed each other to the end with the score locked at 7-all with a minute remaining.

Breaking the deadlock with a match-winning try with about 60 seconds left was The MOB’s Lachlan Trindall who ran onto a Clifford Toomey pass from close range to make the final score 8-7.

Trindall produced a player-of-the-match performance which included three tries as he guided his side to victory.

Also crossing for a try each were Chris Clark, Carol Grant, Clifford Toomey Junior, and Jamarl and Krista Zarka.

Just as Trindall did for The MOB, Danny Anderson went over for a hat-trick of tries for the Outback Shack Tigers.

Teammates Will Brooks, Connor Hill, Dylan Segundo and Nathan Trindall all scored a try each for the losing side.

The C-grade competition decider was tight in the opening stages.

Emus and The Kerrigans battled it out for the C-grade title and at one stage the game was locked at 2-all.

But a fine display from Jakeb Nipperess led Emus to a 7-2 victory.

Nipperess scored one try and had a handful of assists in his side’s grand final victory and was handed the player of the match honours.

Emus’ Holly Ford scored a double and Bailey Ballangarry, Elsie Ford and Chris Swaddle all chipped into the Emus’ tally with a try each.

The Kerrigans’ Lisa Macrae was the star player in her side’s defeat, scoring two tries.

Macrae went on to pick up the ladies’ player of the season for her efforts over the entire competition.

The D-grade contest was a much closer contest which saw Dingle Dangles defeat GGOs 6-4 to win the division’s championship.

As was the case in the B-grade game, a hat-trick hero guided his side to victory in the D-grade clash.

That was Kalab McMillan who crossed for three of the Dingle Dangles’ six tries.

Teammate Clayton Pursche bagged a double and David Kennedy scored the other.

GGOs had four different try-scorers on the night, with Alex Hall, Cassidy Staines, Dylan Williams and Emma Young all going over once each.
