Hundreds of books are ‘walking out the door’ every week at the Narrabri Rotary Book Sale and hundreds more are coming in to replenish stocks.
Book bargains abound at the annual sale which is a huge success with some weeks still to run.
“We have books of all kinds,” said Rotary president Julie Herbert.
“There are about 7000 titles on the shelves at any time – plenty to choose from on subjects ranging from crime to creativity.
“Some customers have a clear idea of what they are looking for – and often find it.
“One customer took home a box of crime novels by popular author Jess Gervitsen – just what she had specifically come in and had been looking for.”
And if you have browsed the book shelves and think you have seen all that’s available please come back, invites Mrs Herbert.
“We have new titles coming in every day,” she said.
“If you were here last week, come back and look again.
“We are always getting new stock in and more is invited if people want to donate books.”
The Rotary book sale is the club’s big fund raiser for the year and it is going well.
“We are on track to do as well as last year,” said Mrs Herbert.
“The books on sale are absolute bargains – they are being sold for a fraction of their original cost.”
The book sale will continue for some weeks yet.
However, the doors will be open only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm to give the voluntary staff time to get their breath and restack the shelves.
Money raised from the sale goes to Rotary supported community projects and charities.
