Wee Waa Public School picked up three from five North-West PSSA regional final victories in the past week.
The Wee Waa Public School’s girls’ cricket, girls’ softball and boys’ softball open sides all scored wins, advancing the teams into the state playoffs.
The girls’ open touch football team and boys’ open cricket sides also made the regional final but were defeated in the final.
The girls’ softball team is the only side that played in the first round of the state finals but the team was knocked out in the round of eight.
Teacher and coach of the boys’ softball and boys’ cricket sides Michael Lever said it was a terrific accomplishment for all of the teams to make it as far as the regional final.
“It’s been a big year,” he said.
“It is impressive for so many teams from a smaller school to go so far in the competitions, especially from a remote area.”
Wee Waa Public School also tasted success in Netball when its girls’ side took out the regional state cup.
The team won a round-robin tournament, qualifying to represent the North West in a state-wide cup.
The first round of the state finals for the girls’ cricket, boys’ softball and girls’ softball will all be held in early November.
