The deputy NSW Premier John Barilaro announced last week that financial help will be available for explorers to search for new mineral deposits in NSW. Who knows what’s out there, or under there? Topical is reminded of an encounter with two geologists some years ago. They were exploring in the Pilliga Forest area, not for minerals, but ‘hot rocks’ – the geothermal energy generated by the heat from the Earth’s core – an almost limitless source of power.
