The International Sport Karate Association Australian National Championships were held in Liverpool on Sunday and three former Narrabri boys came up trumps.
Nicolas Gollan, 17, Kynan Harvey, 17, and Adam Gollan, 9, all won two medals in their divisions.
The boys, who now live in Orange, have been training for 12 months and the national champs was Adam’s fourth official ISKA tournament while Kynan and Nicolas have competed at three.
Interestingly, cousins Kynan and Nicolas competed against one another in the final of the Jiu-Jitsu event with Nicolas coming out on top.
Nicolas, the son of Adam Gollan and Emma Knox, was crowned the Australian champion in the 13-17-years Jiu-Jitsu event and in the 13-17 years 75kg-and-over light kick event.
Kynan, the son of Angie Knox and Karl Harvey, became the Australian champion in the 13-17-years 64-70kg light kick event and finished second in 13-17-years Jiu-Jitsu competition.
Adam, the son of Adam Gollan and Emma Knox, finished third in his Jiu-Jitsu competition, which was a combined weight event as there were no other competitors in the 39-42kg division.
Adam finished second in the 10-12-years Jiu-Jitsu event after another participant’s challenger failed to attend.
Adam recently competed in the Australian Karate Open event and won the Koshiki event.
The trio will look to compete at more ISKA tournaments next year and, depending on how well they perform, could be invited to participate at the ISKA World Cup which will be held in Australia on October 16-18, 2020.
Nicolas was also recently invited to compete in Bangkok in March next year for the World Champions of Muay-Thai.
He will travel to Bangkok for 10 days with his trainer Kyoshi Benjamin Pollet.
