Many friends in the Narrabri district have been saddened to learn of the passing of former resident Peter Compton.

Mr Compton passed away peacefully in Robina Hospital, Gold Coast on Friday, November 15, 2019 aged 72 years.

Peter had a long association with Narrabri after leaving Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in 1962.

He joined the NSW Ambulance Transport Service Board in Narrabri in 1964.

In 1978 Mr Compton replaced retiring Ambulance Superintendent Ern Jeffries becoming Officer in Charge until his resignation in April, 1984, after 20 years service.

Mr Compton and his family bought into a Honda Motorcycle/ and vehicle business Country Vehicles which they operated for nine years before selling out.

He is survived by wife Robin of 53 years and children Christopher (Gold Coast) and Belinda (Brisbane) and grandchildren Abbie, Annika (Brisbane) and Jackson (Gold Coast).

A funeral service will be held on the Gold Coast on Friday. Peter’s eldest brother Robert Compton passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening at Hervey Bay, Queensland.
