Round seven of the 2019-20 Narrabri District Cricket Association first grade season was one of the closest and most intriguing yet, with both matches going right down to the wire.

At Hogan Oval, Civeo and RSL contested a match where 89.1 of the maximum 90 overs were used. That contest lasted more than seven hours.

In that game Civeo batted first and made 8-193, then RSL reached 184 before losing its final wicket from the first ball of the 45th over of its innings to fall to a nine-run loss.

In the other match Tatts challenged the Western Imperial Razorbacks at Collins Park.

In that game 88 of the maximum 90 overs were played, and that match lasted almost seven hours.

Tatts batted first and used all 45 of its overs as it finished on 8-148, which was then chased down by the Razorbacks in the 43rd over.

The Razorbacks lost nine wickets in that contest but a 39-run final-wicket partnership between Jay Hall and Josh Trindall saw it hang on to clinch a memorable win.

In Civeo’s victory against RSL, which saw it move into outright first position on the NDCA first grade ladder, opening batsman Nick Smart scored the first century of the campaign.

He smashed 17 fours on his way to a season-high score of 109 runs during a classy innings which lasted almost 40 overs.

NDCA First Grade Ladder: Civeo 37, Tatts 31, Razorbacks 25, RSL 19.
