Five Narrabri-trained pacers were in action at the Tamworth Paceway last Thursday at a Tamworth Harness Racing Club TAB meeting.

Two of those were victorious and another two raced to third-placed finishes during the afternoon.

The first winner for the Narrabri trainers was the Garry Shepherdson-trained, Chris Shepherdson-driven Future Fun in race eight.

Future Fun, which is owned by the local group of Garry, Chris and Peter Shepherdson, Nathan and Charles Dicks and Neil Drysdale, started the 2360-metre race three in on the second row and secured a narrow win, seeing off the second-placed Brendan James-trained-and-driven Fantasy Money by half a neck.

The victory was Future Fun’s third of the season in 11 starts, and the five-year-old gelding’s sixth in 41 career races.

In his past four races across the months of November and December he has won three times and placed once in what has been a great run of form.

In the ninth and final race of the evening on Thursday the Jarred Hetherington-trained Corporal Luna was also victorious.

Corporal Luna started the race three in on the front row as the race’s $2.25 favourite.

The seven-year-old gelding raced to his second win in as many races since joining the Hetherington stable.

He saw off the Clayton Harmey-trained, Blake Hughes-driven Blue Blazer by one-and-a-half metres in the 1980-metre Thrifty Car and Truck Rental Tamworth pace, to win what was his 21st race in 180 starts.

Tom Ison drove Corporal Luna to the victory, and the reinsman has success with another Hetherington-trained pacer earlier in the meeting.

In the second race of the day Point Oh Five started two in on the second row and placed third in what was the 1980-metre Sky Active pace.

Point Oh Five finished just three metres back from the Lola Weidemann-trained, Stecey Weidemann-driven winner Ima Regal Jet, and just a metre behind the second-placed Lola Weidemann-trained-and-driven Ghost Gum which was the race’s favourite.

The sixth race of the day was the 1609-metre Eco Energy and Solar Solutions Ladyship pace.

In that race the Peter Shepherdson-trained, Blake Hughes-driven Capital Cullect placed third after starting from pole position. She finished three metres behind the winner, the Gregory Coney-trained, Jake Hughes-driven Queens Angel.
