Thursday is Christmas Fair and late shopping night in Maitland street.

It will be a festive family event.

“The Christmas Fair will begin at 4pm and run through until 9pm,” said one of the organisers, Shawn Wales from ‘The Grayhound’.

Main street businesses have staged the new Maitland Street Christmas Fair this year.

“All businesses will be open for late shopping,” said Shawn

“There will be many stalls set up along Maitland Street footpaths, and there will be lots of food available and music.”

Food outlets will include the Narrabri Rotary gourmet barbecue, Watson’s Kitchen and One 23.

School student choristers will be making music and community radio station 2MAX FM will be playing music as well.

The Courier ‘Thinking Christmas? Buy Local!’ draw will be held starting at 7.30pm with lucky shoppers in the running for a share in $3000 worth of local shopping vouchers.

The draw will be held at the Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree on the Post office lawn.

Talented vocalist-guitarists Leon Cunningham and Layten Smith will be playing at the draw and Santa Claus will be there with plenty of lollies for the kids.

“And if there is a storm and it rains we hope everyone will seek shelter inside the shops.”
