The countdown to Christmas is on and with just days to go, Santa Claus has been spotted in the Spring Plains district spreading some festive cheer.

It might be a small community but its Christmas spirit is big with a number of families attending the Spring Plains Christmas tree on Saturday evening.

Santa’s preferred mode of transport in the bush is a fire truck and it was hard to tell if the children were more excited about the big red truck with flashing lights or the big red man himself.

At first, some of the younger children approached Santa with trepidation but he soon won them over with his ‘lolly throw’ and present giving around the tree.

Organiser Tarnya Wilson thanked Rotary and the Narrabri Christian Fellowship Church for their kind gifts and donations.

“It’s Amazing, the generosity of those people is just amazing,” said Mrs Wilson
