The Narrabri District Cricket Association teams have enjoyed two weekends of rest following washouts on Friday and Saturday, January 17 and 18, and the Australia Day break, but this weekend cricket in Narrabri returns with a bang.

Tomorrow night the Coates Hire Super Slog T20 competition teams will be in action in their final regular season matches.

First-placed Carla Baxter Real Estate and third-placed Specialised Civil Services will meet at Collins Park, while second-placed Priag Marketing and fourth-placed Rose Pest Control go head-to-head at Hogan Oval.

The results of those games will determine the final ladder standings which will confirm the two grand final teams.

The competition’s grand final will be played on Saturday night at Collins Park from 6.30pm.

It will actually be the second decider to be contested on that day at that venue, with the second grade T20 grand final between Tatts and RSL to commence at 3pm.

The NDCA announced yesterday that bar and canteen facilities would operation from 4pm into the evening, and that there would be music and entertainment from NowFM’s Greg ‘The Hat’ Henry.

While the action will be fierce on the field, spectators have also been encouraged to have their hands ready with a crowd catch competition running during the Super Slog final.

In that game the first person to catch a ball in the crowd off a six will win a $100 Why Leave Town card.

The following day the NDCA’s representative second XI will be in action at Collins Park when it takes on Gunnedah in the fifth and final round of the MA Connolly Cup regular season.

Narrabri (14 points) is currently ranked first in the Western Conference, just a point ahead of second-placed Moree and third-placed Gunnedah (both 13 points), making this game an almost must-win match for the Pink Slugs to qualify for the finals.

The top two ranked sides from both the Western Conference and Eastern Conference advance to a four-team finals series, with the semi-finals to be played on Sunday, February 9, ahead of the Sunday, February 16 grand final day.

The NDCA team for this Sunday’s round five MA Connolly Cup match is as follows:

Ty Baker (captain), Nick Tomlinson, Jarrett Tough, Hamish Duncan, Toby Reynolds, Shane Murphy, Josh Trindall, Cody Kember, Matt Conroy, Kaleb Mowle, Joel Hogan.
