Four Narrabri Shire greyhounds trainers had dogs in action at a TAB meeting at Gunnedah on Australia Day on Sunday.
Narrabri’s Robert Hobson, and Wee Waa trio Geoffrey Whitton and Timothy and Colin Anderson had a combined seven greyhounds racing on the night.
One of those was victorious, and another three placed either second or third.
In the sixth of 11 races, Hobson’s Talmage jumped from box five and secured a comfortable victory.
In the 340-metre race two-year-old Talmage finished nine lengths ahead of his nearest competitor as he sped away to his third straight win at Gunnedah and his seventh consecutive top three finish.
In the fifth race of the meeting another Hobson-trained greyhound was in action, with Rosa’s Revenge placing third.
In the four-year-old’s first race since October last year, Rosa’s Revenge jumped from box one and finished seven lengths behind the race’s winner Come On George (box six).
In the ninth race of the afternoon Timothy Anderson’s Elite Force jumped from box eight.
In just his second start for Anderson, Elite Force raced to a second straight place finish for the Wee Waa trainer as the two-year-old secured third.
She finished three-and-three-quarter-lengths behind the race’s winner Emiko (box six).
In the 10th race of the meeting the only Whitton-trained dog in action that afternoon raced to a second-placed finish. That was Goonaroi which finished seven-and-three-quarter-lengths adrift of Saddleback (box one).
That was Goonaroi’s seventh start for the Wee Waa trainer since August last year.
In that time she won once and finished second or third four times.
