Saturday will see an afternoon and evening of movie entertainment for Narrabri Shire audiences. Flickerfest, a festival of the best international and Australian short films is coming to The Crossing Theatre.

The Academy Award accredited and BAFTA-recognised short film festival will present a program of The Best Of Australian Shorts and The Best Of International Shorts.

Flickerfest is now in its 29th year.

Narrabri is on its international tour and the festival will present the best of Australian and the world’s short film excellence, hand-picked from Flickerfest’s Australian and international competitions. Flickerfest’s national tour will take the festival of films to 50 venues around Australia from January to the end of May.

On Saturday afternoon, the doors will open at 4.55pm for the start of the Australian shorts programs and at 7.40 the international shorts program will begin.

There will be canapes and drinks between the two sessions.

The movies represent the best in short films – chosen from 3,500 entries.

The films include Australian and international award winners.

‘Elders’, from the director of The Sapphires, has been selected for the Berlin International Film Festival.

The winner of the Best Australian Animated short film, Rebooted, and the Best Australian Film at the Flickerfest festival, The Egg, will be among films on the program as well as the French film Memorable, a winner of the Best Animation prize and recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Animation.
