There’s a new face in town with Senior Constable Tim Horn joining the Wee Waa Police Station, he will be serving the Narrabri Shire area.

“I’m really excited and happy to be here,” said Senior Constable Horn.

“The community is really nice so far and really welcoming.”

Senior Constable Horn comes to Wee Waa with a lot of experience under his belt having served as a police officer in Taree for eight years.

“I’ve had good exposure working in Taree – I’ve seen everything from shoplifting to murder.”

Senior Constable Horn said his proudest policing moments were making two murder arrests last year.

Taree is a busy police beat on the mid-north Coast of NSW.

In fact, Senior Constable Horn had only been a police officer there for a matter of months when one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives, Malcolm Naden, was arrested by police near Gloucester and taken into Taree police station, in 2012.

Senior Constable Horn said he hadn’t been to Wee Waa before starting this job but he’d heard good things and applied for the position and location.

“I really wanted to be here,” he said.

The new Wee Waa officer spent his early childhood years in Tamworth before his family moved to Sydney where Senior Constable Horn went to high school.

He then attended the Police Academy in Goulburn before his posting in Taree.

“My grandfather was in the job and I’ve always looked up to my grandfather,” said Senior Constable Horn about his inspiration for joining the police force.

“There’s just something about police work that I’ve always loved and it’s something I’ve always just seen myself doing.”

Senior Constable Horne certainly had a busy first day attending an early morning house fire but said he was keen to get straight to work.

“I like the job because it’s something different every day, I couldn’t do a 9 to 5 job,” he said.

“I’m a people person, I like being out and meeting new people.

“And I like catching the bad people.”

Acting Police Inspector Scott Bolton said that Senior Constable Horn was “a very welcome boost to our ranks and resources.”
