Gamers across the Narrabri Shire will have their chance to shine on Sunday, March 1.
On that day the Crossroads Hotel will host the inaugural Xbox One FIFA 20 World Cup competition.
The World Cup tournament format will see players compete against one another to become Narrabri’s first FIFA 20 champion while helping to raise money for the Cancer Council NSW in the process.
Registered players will meet at the Crossroads Hotel before midday on March 1 and be given a random seed number.
Players will then play in the order in which they were seeded; for example seed number one will play against seed number two.
The competitors will then have their team randomly selected from all available international squads.
Players will then battle it out in a world cup style format in which the loser of each match is eliminated.
This format can only be hosted in 32, 64 and 128 players – remaining spots will be filled with byes.
The Crossroads Hotel has generously offered a major prize and free bowling while the tournament is running.
The major prize is set at a $400 Crossroads Hotel bowling package.
Second and third place prizes will also be won on the day along with raffles, 100 clubs and a lolly jar guessing competition.
The Courier’s sponsored Stars of Narrabri dancer Liam ‘Twinkle Toes’ Emerton will be raising money for the Cancer Council NSW and the local support services helping people in Narrabri touched by cancer with all money raised at the tournament donated directly to the Cancer Council NSW.
Registration must be paid at The Courier office prior to the event.
Anyone interested can follow the event page on The Courier’s Facebook page. Questions or enquiries can be made by contacting Liam on 0421 568 168 or by calling The Courier office on 6792 1011.
