The Western Imperial Razorbacks’ second XI booked its spot in the 2019-20 Narrabri District Cricket Association second grade one day finals series on Saturday.
In round 14 of the second grade season the Razorbacks scored a massive win against Crossroads at Hogan Oval, demolishing the last-placed side by 105 runs.
The Razorbacks batted first in that match and made 164 in 36.4 overs, guided by Brendon Smith who scored a run-a-ball 37 and his teammates Angus Galagher (28), Harry Pattison (28*), Shane Robinson (21) and Lucas Hatton (12).
The Razorbacks then knocked over Crossroads for just 59 runs after 25 overs.
The defending side’s skipper Pat Legge produced a standout spell with the ball as he bowled his way to 5-10 from five overs.
Teammate Hatton (3-8 from seven overs) was the only other multiple wicket taker in that game.
That win saw the Razorbacks move to 68 points, level with Civeo, which had the round 14 bye, and remain three points ahead of fourth-placed Tatts which won at Gately Field by 44 runs against RSL.
Civeo is ranked second on net run rate, however it is the Razorbacks which is the safer of the two teams because it has the bye in round 15 so cannot be overtaken by Tatts.
For Tatts to qualify for the finals it must defeat Crossroads at Hogan Oval, and it also requires RSL to defeat Civeo at Gately Field.
