The Narrabri Touch Inc’s summer season grand final day is fast approaching, with the 2019-20 men’s and ladies’ deciders locked in for Monday, March 30.
The B-grade ladies’ competition will enter week one of its finals series this Monday, while the A-grade men’s and ladies’ and men’s B-grade and C-grade comps all start playing finals games the following week.
The B-grade ladies’ finals series is starting one week earlier due to it being made up of five teams, while all the others have four teams.
The top-ranked side Hounddogs has this week off and will then play the winner of Monday’s qualifier in the qualifying semi-final on Monday, March 16 for a place in the grand final.
This Monday’s qualifier will be contested between second and third-ranked teams Xtra and Bluebirds.
The loser of that game will advance to the March 16 elimination semi-final where it will play the winner of Monday’s elimination final between Phoenix Two390 and RSL Roulettes.
The loser of that match will be eliminated from the comp.
The other four comps’ finals series will all be played across three weeks.
In week one the top two ranked teams will play against one another in the qualifying semi-finals, and the bottom two ranked teams will meet in elimination semi-finals.
The winner of the qualifying semi-finals will advance straight through to the grand finals, but the losers of those games will play preliminary final matches against the elimination semi-final winners on Monday, March 23.
The winners of those preliminary finals will earn the second grade final spots.
In the ladies’ A-grade competition on Monday the undefeated top-ranked team Agies Ladies continued its domination with a 13-4 win against Redbacks to bring up its 100th try of the campaign.
Agies Ladies has won all eight of its games this year, a combined 100-10.
In the other A-grade ladies’ match Specialised Civil Services took down BPR 6-3.
In the A-grade men’s comp the Grumley Builders suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 5-4 against One23 Cafe in a nailbiter.
The Grumley Builders entered that match having won eight straight games by a combined score of 56-11.
In the other men’s A-grade game Hidden Talent downed DTA Lumberjacks 11-4.
In the B-grade ladies’ comp the two sides which will contest this Monday’s qualifying final went head-to-head in the final round of the regular season. In that game Xtra defeated Bluebirds 7-5.
In the other match in that competition Hounddogs edged out RSL Roulettes 2-1.
While the ladies’ B-grade competition produced two close games, the men’s B-grade comp delivered the biggest winning margin of the round.
That was 10 after Win Or Booze outscored Ballbusters 13-3, while in the other B-grade contest Damien Chiplin Plumbing defeated Gee Bangers 5-3.
In the men’s C-grade comp Cougars downed Mowley’s Maniacs 7-2, and in a much closer game Stylies were beaten 4-3 by ODAPs.
