After all games were washed out in round one, the Narrabri Basketball Association’s men’s competition got under way at the local courts last night.
As reported in last Thursday’s Courier there are six teams in the men’s competition this season.
However, SportsPower Pelicans were forced to pull out due to a lack of numbers before a new team named Palmers Steelers emerged to ensure there would be no bye in the competition.
Only two matches were contested in round two following a forfeit in the first game of the night which saw Telstra Magic pick up the points against Gumboot Ballers.
Other winners on the night were Tatts Titans and Prison Rules.
Tatts Titans took on the Palmers Steelers and converted a 21-15 lead into a 52-25 victory after outscoring the competition’s newest side 31-10 in the second stanza.
In the other game Prison Rules took on Thunder and won 25-17.
Two former Thunder players Dylan Thompson (16 points) and Zaine Saunders (nine points) combined for all 25 of Prison Rules’ points to guide their team to victory.
Although Magic’s opposition forfeited on the night last season’s grand finalists still played a non-competitive match against a side made up of players from other teams.
On Tuesday the second round of the mixed competition was played.
Defending champions RSL Raptors scored a dominant 50-14 victory against Sporties Club, while the Bowlo Dry Lakers lined up for their first game of the campaign following a round one bye but went down 21-18.
Thunder had the bye in round two of the mixed competition.
