For the first time this year the Narrabri Basketball Association held all five scheduled games across the two competitions.
In round one all men’s matches were washed out, then in round two a forfeit in the men’s competition meant that only four of the five games were played.
This week’s games were all round three matches.
In mixed action on Tuesday evening Thunder defeated Namoi Hotel 27-23, before Bowlo Dry Lakers downed Sporties Club 37-18.
Those wins were the first of the season for Thunder and the Dry Lakers in what was the second game for both teams following a loss and a bye to start their respective campaigns.
Yesterday in the men’s competition there was a 31-all draw which saw Tatts Titans and Thunder unable to be separated, while Telstra Magic cruised past Prison Rules 64-15 and Gumboot Ballers defeated Palmers Steelers 25-12.
In the first game played on Tuesday Thunder entered the half-time break leading Namoi Hotel 17-12.
Namoi outscored Thunder 11-10 in the second stanza but Thunder held on to win by four points.
Scoring a team-best eight of Thunder’s 27 points was Ell John, while Namoi Hotel’s Trish Lawty finished with a game-best 10 points.
The other match was even closer at half-time as the Bowlo Dry Lakers led Sporties Club 14-10.
However, a dominant second half saw the Dry Lakers score 23 points while only conceding eight to win the game by 19 points.
Seven players scored points for the Bowlo Dry Lakers, with Onika McConnell top scoring with 10.
Sporties Club’s Madeline Zotter was her team’s best on the evening with nine points, seven of which she scored in the first half.
In the first men’s match yesterday Telstra Magic was dominant from start to finish against Prison Rules.
Magic led 31-6 at half-time before outscoring its opponents 33-9 in the second half.
Magic’s Noah Smith dominated with a season-high 26 points, while 14 of Prison Rules’ 15 points were scored by Dylan Thompson.
In Thunder’s 31-all draw against Tatts Titans it led 16-11 at the break before the Titans scored 20 second half points to 15.
Titans’ Cooper Brayshaw dominated with 21 of his team’s 31 points which included 12 in his team’s second half fightback.
Thunder’s Toby Knight recorded a team-best 18 points.
In the other match Gumboot Ballers scored their first win of the season by converting a 12-4 half-time lead into a 25-12 victory.
