Narrabri Shire Council is taking a proactive approach in managing the operational risk associated with the COVID-19 virus by revising and updating as required, Council’s Business Continuity Plan to ensure effective operations are maintained.
“Council has considered a variety of scenarios and has developed frameworks to respond to these scenarios should they eventuate” a spokesperson said.
“This approach has been taken to ensure the organisation can continue to operate with minimum disruptions and maintain its serviceability to the community.”
Mayor Cathy Redding said she remained confident with how Council is responding to the virus threat.
“Maintaining operations and service provisions to the community is crucial. We are working with all levels of government and associated specialist departments such as NSW Health to ensure we are acting in the best interests of our community.
“As a Council we want the community to remain safe and healthy, what we do not want is for panic and fear to take over.
“In such times of uncertainty, it is crucial people do what they can to help one another. It is important that we continue our daily routines as normal where possible whilst exercising caution and taking the advice of health care professionals.
“One of the key recommendations from health officials is that people maintain good hygiene practices, with 20-30 seconds of warm soapy hand washing regularly, self-isolating when unwell and if concerned, seeking medical advice. Council will continue to monitor the situation closely and be guided by state and federal government advice.
