Many lives have been touched both directly and indirectly by the courageous way in which Lee Baker fought, and ultimately lost, as she knew she would, her battle with cancer on Friday.

Next week would have marked two years since Lee was diagnosed with large cell, high grade NeuroEndocrine Carcinoma of the cervix, stage 4 with Mets to lungs and liver.

Lee’s family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances were devastated to learn that she had passed away.

Though all knew it was inevitable, the loss of this warm, vivacious, brave and caring woman has profoundly affected all who knew her.

And though we grieve as we never knew we could, or would, Lee has left a legacy of love and inspiration.

If Lee could live her battle so transparently, if Lee had the courage to carry on when we would have given in, then why can’t we too live each day as if it’s our last, greet friends and family as if we will never see them again and laugh in the face of adversity and give it our all, every minute of every day, then Lee’s life will not be lost, her joy of life will live on in all of us.

We can be strengthened by Lee’s passing, our relationships will be stronger and our community will be more caring and cohesive.

Lee fought the good fight, let us live the best life.

Vale Lee.
