“We are all in this together,” Narrabri Shire Council general manager Stewart Todd said earlier today.
Mr Todd issued a statement, on behalf of the Mayor, councillors and staff, calling for calm and supporting supermarket staff, health professionals, and hospital staff during the current coronavirus pandemic.
“Council wants to put a shout out to the hard-working supermarket staff throughout the shire doing the best they can with what they are getting delivered,” Mr Todd said.
“We all need to ensure we try and maintain a rational and healthy respect for each other.
“All the front-line staff across the shire are doing their very best.
“Our supermarket staff, our health professionals, and hospital staff and many, many more.
“We all need to keep a level of calmness, not incite unnecessary panic and be mindful of others – but most of all we should not turn on the very people that are trying their best to help us through this current situation.
“Don’t underestimate your individual impact – a pleasant friendly conversation with a supermarket staff member or even a simple ‘thank you’ to a nurse, doctor or health professional.
“In the end we are all in this together.
“A huge thank you from us at council.”
