COVID-19 has taken an eighth Australian life as the pandemic continues to test the nation.
NSW Health announced today that a female passenger in her 70s who was transported directly to hospital from the Ruby Princess which docked in Sydney on March 19, passed away in hospital this morning.
Seven people have now died in NSW having tested positive to COVID-19, while there are 12 cases in intensive care units and of those cases, eight require ventilators at this stage.
As of 8pm Tuesday an additional 149 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW, since 8pm Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in NSW to 818.
There was an increase of 25 cases in that time in the Hunter New England Health District, bring the total number there to 72.
