The Alcohol and Drug Foundation reports a study which shows 20 per cent of households reported buying more alcohol than they normally would. In these households 70 per cent reported drinking more alcohol than usual amid the COVID-19 pandemic, more than a third (34 per cent) said they are now consuming alcohol every day, 32 per cent reported they are concerned about how much alcohol they are drinking, or someone else in their household is consuming, over a quarter (28 per cent) said they were drinking alcohol to cope with anxiety and stress and 20 per cent report having started drinking alcohol earlier in the day.
