There will be no public gatherings to observe Anzac Day in Australia on Saturday due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the current crisis, Anzac Day remains a significant day for all Australians and is for many a time for private reflection.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs has urged Australians to privately commemorate Anzac Day, in-line with health regulations, and to watch the service at the Australian War Memorial on television at their own home.
Narrabri Shire residents have been encouraged to ‘show the flag’ and observe a minute’s silence at 11am on Saturday, April 25.
Today’s issue of The Courier and the Wee Waa News carries a small ‘hand waver’ Australian flag and invites readers to display the flag at home, while observing the minute’s silence tribute and tuning into 2MAXFM which will broadcast the Ode and Last Post.
