Another new addition to the Jarred Hetherington stable has raced to victory at the Tamworth Paceway.

The Narrabri trainer took seven pacers to the Tamworth Harness Racing Club’s Anzac Day meeting last Thursday, one of which was three-year-old gelding Broken Ark.

Broken Ark raced 19 times for Queensland trainer Greg Dixon for two wins and a total of 10 top three finishes before arriving in Narrabri last month.

In his first start for Hetherington, Broken Ark was driven by Tom Ison to a second-placed finish in Armidale on March 15.

In just his second start as a Narrabri pacer, Broken Ark raced to victory in Tamworth on Thursday.

Driven by Mick Formosa, Broken Ark started the eighth and final race of the afternoon out of the number three barrier on the front row as the 1980-metre race’s $2 favourite.

The two pacers on his inside started quickest but Broken Ark was the first of the field of 10 to run past the home post with two laps to go.

Broken Ark still led when the bell sounded, running down the inside lane.

With about 400 metres to run Broken Ark shot away and led by six metres coming into the final turn.

He then got nicely clear and charged down the final straight to win by 6.2 metres from the Anthony Missen-trained, Tom Ison-driven Harbour Town which placed second.

That was Hetherington’s second new addition to win this month after Night Lights raced to victory at the Narrabri Harness Racing Club’s annual TAB meeting which was held at the Tamworth Paceway on Easter Monday.

There were three other Narrabri-trained pacers in action in that race on Thursday.

The Hetherington-trained Sir Macador, driven by Jake Hughes, and Unico Enchantress, driven by Brendan James, finished sixth and ninth respectively, while the Peter Shepherdson-trained, Chris Shepherdson-driven Capital Cullect ran home eighth.

Earlier in the meeting the Hetherington-trained Night Lights was the first Narrabri pacer to run.

In the 1980-metre Last Post Pace, which was the third race of the afternoon, the five-year-old mare was driven by Formosa to a fifth-placed finish.

Another Hetherington-trained pacer was driven by Formosa in race five which was the 1980-metre Lest We Forget Pace.

That was Bettor Getta Lover which placed third after running home just three metres behind the Clayton Harmey-trained, Joshua Osborn-driven $1.40 favourite Shades Of Heaven.

Race six was the 1980-metre Flanders Fields Pace in which the Garry Shepherdson-trained, Chris Shepherdson-driven Future Fun finished fourth.

The five-year-old gelding started as a $101 outsider in his 60th start but finished less than four metres outside the top three.

In race seven two Hetherington-trained pacers ran in the 1980-metre Landing Of Gallipoli Pace.

They were the Formosa-driven Padrisimo which finished fourth and the Hughes-driven Corporal Luna which ran home ninth.
