Northern NSW Inland Port expands

Narrabri Shire Council has plans to significantly expand the Northern Inland Port with the proposed acquisition of more land, bringing the total area of the planned hub on Culgoora Road to 374 hectares.

Narrabri Shire general manager Stewart Todd said the additional land will make the Port – ‘N2IP’ – ‘the premier industrial and logistics hub development in North West NSW’.

The expansion will further underwrite the potential for more industry and more jobs at the site, Mr Todd said.

The Northern Inland Port will be ideally placed to take advantage of several planned and potential industrial and infrastructure developments.

Narrabri Shire Council has unveiled the official logo that will represent the Northern NSW Inland Port (N2IP) at Narrabri.

“Due to the restrictions in being able to conduct a formal launch, the logo was revealed via a Facebook video premiere on Wednesday night,” a council spokesperson said.

“The logo was not the only reveal of the evening, with general manager, Stewart Todd taking the opportunity to make some significant N2IP land announcements.”

“Council has recently finalised the purchase of 240 hectares of land,” Mr Todd said.

“Due to the significant business interest since the launch of the N2IP prospectus in September 2019, Council has entered into additional options to purchase a further 134 hectares on two adjoining properties.

“The combined 374 hectares will make N2IP, the premier industrial and logistics hub development in North West NSW.

“The 240ha upon which the N2IP strategic business case was developed identified that 1,000 jobs would be created.

“With the addition of 134ha on land options three and four, the potential job creation estimates now approach 1,500.

“The N2IP will be Council’s industrial engine room looking to advance the economy by attracting businesses to the site to grow and diversify the economy.”

The N2IP is strategically located to maximise the converging benefits of Inland Rail and the availability of commercial quantities of gas, Mr Todd said.

“The site is also positioned in close proximity to all required critical infrastructure such as rail, water, electricity, roads and telecommunications.”

Mayor Cathy Redding emphasised the significance of the project and what it can provide.

“The strategic location is an element that sets the N2IP on a course to sustain Narrabri Shire and the greater region well into the future.

“It is a very exciting time for Narrabri Shire with endless possibilities for the various types of industries that N2IP can accommodate.

“We are excited to launch the logo that will provide the N2IP with an identity. The logo provides a visual symbol that incorporates all elements of the N2IP – featuring connections to rail, road, air, and our corporate council identity.

“The N2IP is progressing rapidly and we need to ensure the corporate image is represented going forward to potential investors.”
