While I was in business in Narrabri I endeavoured to maintain impartiality in both politics and local issues.

However the recent exchanges from the anti-Narrabri Gas Project people leads me to call for some form of fact checking as to what they are proclaiming.

They claim that 97 per cent of locals do not want the project to go ahead.

Where did that figure come from?

Apparently from a survey they conducted themselves with questions they had worded.

For a survey to be credible it has to be independently conducted with no contrived wording.

Our local Member (ABC Friday, June 5) reckons on there being a 50/50 split on local approval.

Now that’s only a 47 per cent difference. I suggest that it is at least 80/20 in favour of the project.

Only a proper independent survey will tell who is closer to the mark.

This is just one of many claims by the anti-gas people that needs fact checking.
