Thirty six years ago, Ray Faber began his own business in Narrabri, Ray Faber Sheet Metal, and not long after that he began to make Faber toolboxes, a product which is nowadays found around the region, in far flung corners right across Australia and overseas.

Faber toolboxes was launched in 1984 at the same time as the Advance Australia campaign, which later gave birth to the now familiar Australian Made logo, and Faber Toolboxes was a foundation member.

The business grew and the toolbox range developed – becoming much-copied along the way.

Fabers today is a major Narrabri business, an export company with customers throughout the region, Australia wide and internationally and has employed some 500 people over its three-plus decades, including training 120 apprentices locally.

On Monday, June 8 the company celebrated its 36th birthday, and with the new focus on Australian manufacturing, is looking forward to further development across its range of metal fabrication and powder coating businesses from its Francis Street workshops.
