Narrabri Lions Club members have been working on weekends to upgrade their property, a large shed on a block in Narrabri. The shed is naturally a source of pride – not many country Lions clubs own premises.

On the weekend, Lions fitted new roller doors, repaired the shed’s facia and carried out other improvements. The Lions bought the 30 by 20 foot shed years ago.

“We have been using it for about 15 years but in 2014 we bought it from the shire council,” said veteran Lion Bob Percival.

“We were going to dismantle it re-locate it but couldn’t take the concrete floor,” another Lion commented. The shed is used for equipment storage but will also provide a venue for informal meetings.

The Lions, like other organisations, have been observing social distancing and will resume their normal meetings again in the fullness of time, after the COVID-19 hiatus, and the annual Changeover Dinner date has been pushed back, perhaps to August, depending on COVID regulations.
