Fly Corporate, the airline servicing the Narrabri to Sydney and Brisbane routes, has been rebranded as ‘Link Airways.’
The new name is a ‘milestone’ as the 48 year old company moves forward with its new identity, chief executive Andrew Major said.
After operations were shut down temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic health regulations, along with all other airlines, Link is maintaining limited services with government support.
Link operates SAAB 30-seaters and 19-seat Metroliners.
Under the Federal Government’s Regional Airline Network Support program Link Airways continues to provide a minimum weekly schedule to all communities it serviced prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Major said.
“We are pleased that regional Australia can retain these vital flights.
“This program provides critical connectivity for essential travellers and freight and we look forward to further increasing the frequency of flights in due course.
“This will however be governed by the extent of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated State border restrictions.
“Meanwhile the airline has established extensive protocols to help ensure the safety of our customers, the communities that we service and our staff, with all passengers being subject to temperature testing at check-in and compulsory wearing of face masks – which are supplied free of charge”.
Fly Corporate – Link has been a popular service, albeit with a limited schedule offering two return flights per week at this stage.
Link Airways is an Australian owned and operated business whose regional network includes Armidale, Biloela (Thangool), Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Inverell, Melbourne (Essendon), Narrabri, Orange, Sydney, Tamworth and Wollongong (Shellharbour).
Fly Corporate manager Jeff Boyd said the airline remained committed to the Narrabri service and looked forward to being part of the progress of the Narrabri Shire as the Inland Rail project gathered momentum and the Northwest NSW Inland Port developed, with the possibility of the launch of the Narrabri Gas Project.
