The latest Narrabri Tennis school holiday clinic has been as popular as ever with more than 50 students a day taking to the Dangar Park Tennis Centre’s courts this week.

Narrabri Tennis head coach Shane Murphy said that he was pleased with numbers at this week’s clinic as well as the young players’ efforts.

“It’s been great, the temperature has been good and we are giving the kids the opportunity to have fun and learn some new skills,” Murphy said.

“It’s great looking around and seeing all the kids having fun and getting into it, learning how to play their groundstrokes and learning to serve and learning how to volley.”

Murphy added that it was pleasing to see so many kids on court given the challenges that COVID-19 has presented in 2020.

The clinic focused on forehands and rallies on Monday, forehand revision, backhand introduction and more rallies on Tuesday, serving and match play on Wednesday and net play today.

It wrapped up this afternoon with a party.

Assisting Murphy in the coaching department at this clinic were George and Alex Bennett, Laura McFarland and Callum Wales. The clinic was the first as coaches for youngsters George and Callum.

Next up at the Dangar Park Tennis Centre is the Narrabri Head Series which will be contested by junior and senior players on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12.
