First prize winner in The Courier and Wee Waa News ‘Keep it simple … shop locally,’ Christmas promotion, Elizabeth Eames, was welcomed back to Narrabri with $2000 to spend in participating stores.

Elizabeth’s name was drawn from the barrel by Santa Claus on Thursday evening in the finale to the 12-week promotion.

“We have just moved back to Narrabri to live from Boggabri” said the delighted winner.

Elizabeth and her children, Peta, Jasmin, Charlie and Indianna relocated two weeks ago. Elizabeth’s winning ticket came from her purchase at Shop 2390. And because her winning purchase was made at the store, Shop 2390 wins $1000 cash.

This year The Courier Christmas shopping promotion was the biggest ever with 30 local, shire businesses participating and tens of thousands of tickets, representing millions of dollars in purchases at local stores, going into the barrel.

“The Christmas Shopping Promotion is a win-win for our participating businesses, their customers who support them by shopping locally, and for the community” said The Courier manager Wanda Dunnet.

“Thanks to all the participating business and the thousands of shoppers who made the choice to shop locally and support our local businesses”.

The draw of prize winners was a COVID-19 compliant event held at the Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree on the Narrabri Post office lawns.

Santa Claus drew the tickets from the barrel to be scrutinised for eligibility by Narrabri Chamber of Commerce president Russell Stewart and the winners’ names were read out by Mrs Dunnet.

Second prize, $1000 in shopping vouchers to be spent at local participating stores was won by a shopper Angela Balmforth. Her purchase was made at The Grayhound. And as the store which sold the second prize winning product, The Grayhound wins $500 in cash.

Third prize, $500 in shopping vouchers went to James Fladrick, for his purchase at Richard’s Metaland which won $250 in cash.

All winners from fourth to tenth places won $250 in shopping vouchers to be redeemed at the business where their purchase was made.

The Courier then reimburse the businesses for the winners’ purchases to the value of $4000.

The Courier and Wee Waa News thank the 30 businesses which participated in the Keep it simple…shop locally Christmas promotion and customers who supported those businesses.

The fourth to tenth prize winners: Fourth prize, $250 in shopping vouchers to be spent at Sportspower/Toyworld went to Georgia Hunt, (Sportspower/Toyworld purchase) Fifth prize, $250, was won by Peter Lawty (Richards Metaland) sixth, $250, Brooke Dalton (McKechnie’s Hardware) seventh prize, $250 was won by Eloise Redfern, (Barden Pump Services) eighth prize, $250, went to Mick Berryman (Max Orman) ninth prize of $250 went to Loretta Jones (Shop 2390) and tenth prize, $250 was won by Brett Parker, (Barden Pump Services).
