The first Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club final for the 2021 season will be played on Saturday, March 27, at 9am.
That will be the Club Fours final which will be contested by the teams of Janet Coleman, Cecile, Di Chessells and Glennis Godden, and Eva Sadler, Cindy Neil, Dawn Armstrong and Helen Woodward.
Both of those sides recently won their respective semi-final matches.
On Thursday, Coleman, Cecile, Chessells and Godden defeated Gloria Campey, Berice Eather, Kay Carolan and Mary Wheeler 19-17. Wheeler’s team was leading 16-10 after 16 ends, but Coleman’s team won 5 ends to 1 to make the score 17-all on the 20th end. Coleman’s team then scored two shots on the deciding end to win the game 19-17.
On Saturday, Sadler, Neil, Armstrong and Woodward defeated Marie Redman, Kay Parker, Lyn Wedesweiler and Rhonda Welchman 19-14. After seven ends, Sadler’s team had established a narrow 7-6 lead. Welchman’s team then remained scoreless for four ends which allowed Sadler’s team to score six extra points and lead 13-6. Sadler’s team went on to win the contest 19-14.
Social bowls was played on Thursday.
Trish Allison (swinging lead) Ronnie Dewar and Rhonda Welchman defeated Rhonda Fitzgerald and Marie Redman 27-16.
Lesley Price, Helen Woodward, Lyn Tuckey defeated Kay Parker, Caroline Tomlinson, Jan Etheridge 19-17.
Nominations for the 2021 Club Singles competition closes on Wednesday, March 24.
Social bowls will be played on Thursday.
