One-hundred golfers graced the Narrabri Golf Club’s immaculate 18-hole course last week during the town’s annual NSW Veteran Golfers Association week of golf.
Golfers from far and wide and from the bush to the beach travelled to Narrabri to join local golfers for four days of enjoyable action.
Several travelling golfers were former Narrabri residents who were pleased to get the chance to visit their former home once again, some of whom play in the event every year.
Narrabri Golf Club hosted a welcome event for golfers on the Tuesday morning at which a morning tea prepared by Narrabri’s lady golfers was enjoyed.
On the course, individual single stableford events were held on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then a four-ball game was contested on Friday.
The event then wrapped up with a presentation lunch on Friday afternoon.
Narrabri Golf Club officials told The Courier they were pleased that the number of golfers who took part at the event reached triple figures given the difficulties that have arose amid the COVID-19 pandemic during the past year.
The event was cancelled in Narrabri in 2020 due to COVID-19, but organisers were pleased with how well it bounced back in 2021 and are already looking forward to the 2022 event.
