Lorraine Scott continued her 2021 season domination on Saturday when she became the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s Singles champion following a nail-biting decider played at Narrabri Sporties’ John McNamara Owen Campey Green.

It was Scott’s third major title for the year after she went into the final having already been crowned the Namoi District Singles and Pairs champion earlier this year.

On Saturday, she took on Debbie Gleeson whom she played alongside with in her successful Namoi District Pairs campaign.

Scott and Gleeson contested a classic contest that came down to the wire, decided by just two shots after 30 ends of action.

Scott got off to a great start and was leading Gleeson 12-6 after 13 ends.

Gleeson then scored 9 shots to nothing across the next five ends to take a 15-12 lead. However, Scott fought back and the score was level at 20-all after 20 ends.

The winner of the final would be the first bowler to reach 25 shots and Gleeson held a slight advantage after 28 ends when she led 23-22.

However, Scott rallied late and scored three shots across what were the last two ends to win the game 25-23.

Another final will be contested at Narrabri Sporties this Thursday when Glennis Godden and Carol Demamiel go head-to-head in the five-years-and-under competition decider.

Godden recently defeated Lesley Anderson while Demamiel received a forfeit from Lesley Price in the other semi-final.

Four Veteran Singles matches have been scheduled to be played on Thursday, June 3, which are as follows:
Trish Allison v Dawn Armstrong (marker – Janet Coleman), Denise Wall v Helen Woodward (marker – Ronnie Dewar), Di Chessells v Kay Carolan (marker – Rhonda Welchman), Lyn Wedesweiler v Lyn Tuckey (marker – Mary Wheeler).
